Aiita Joshua Apamaku is an early career Wildlife Biologist, National Geographic Explorer, and Darwin200 Leader. His motivation to redefine how we perceive the natural world is deeply rooted in understanding the relationship between complex conservation science and traditional ways of life.
In order to understand implications for the conservation of species with sociocultural significance, he has recently been examining the relationship between conservation and cultures—that is, the traditional ways of life of the forest communities surrounding Kibale and the Virunga Forest National Parks of Uganda.
He is one of the Co-founders of NatureWILD, an organization redefining conservation through Science-telling. Narratives that support conservation have deep origins in human history and interactions with long-living plant and animal species.
At WILD12, he aims to share the experiences that have shaped his journey as a growing conservation leader, his hopes, and ambitions for a world that values and sustains wildscapes.
