Patricio Robles Gil To Speak At 12th World Wilderness Congress In August
The organizers and hosts of the 12th World Wilderness Congress are excited to announce that Patricio Robles Gil will speak at the Congress!
Artist, conservationist, activist. Patricio is the Founder of two Mexican conservation organizations that worked with endangered species and securing biodiversity wildlands. In the last forty years, he produced, and photographed 39 art books about the natural world, in 1993 he launched the legendary Cemex Conservation Book Series, of which he was the director, producer and editor, for 15 years.
In 2009 he was the Co-leader of the World Wilderness Congress, WILD9, that was held in Merida, Yucatan. He has dedicated the last decade to producing a series of art works called, The Extinction Rituals, where he presents some of the most dramatic issues that the planetary wildlife is confronting. In the past two years he documented and supported the extraordinary comeback of the Baja California condor.
The 12th World Wilderness Congress (WILD12) is a global forum to coordinate and mobilize the protection of Earth’s remaining wilderness and wild places. It convenes thousands of delegates from around the world approximately every 4 years to seek and agree upon new actions and principles in the stewardship of Earth. WILD12 is hosted by the Oceti Sakowin on behalf of the Sicangu Lakota Treaty Council, and will place a special emphasis on reinterpreting wilderness through Indigenous perspectives.
