Staffan Widstrand To Speak At 12th World Wilderness Congress In August
The organizers and hosts of the 12th World Wilderness Congress are excited to announce that Staffan Widstrand will speak at the Congress!
Staffan Widstrand is a multiple-award-winning professional nature photographer and author of 19 books, based in Sweden. He is a National Geographic Explorer and a Sony Imaging Ambassador and most of his work is about highlighting the Joy of our natural heritage, trying to inspire wide audiences to better love, protect and take care of it.
Staffan has initiated several long-term nature conservation communication projects (Wild Wonders of Europe, Wild Wonders of China, Rewilding Europe, the Swedish Ecotourism Association, Sweden’s Big Five) and is a founding member of the International League of Conservation Photographers (ILCP).
A frequent judge in leading international photo competitions, including “World Press Photo”, “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” (UK), and the “European Nature Photographer of the Year-GDT” (Germany). Staffan has also been called one of the World’s “Most influential nature photographers” by Outdoor Photography magazine. He is the Managing Director and co-owner of Wild Wonders International. The 12th World Wilderness Congress (WILD12) is a global forum to coordinate and mobilize the protection of Earth’s remaining wilderness and wild places. It convenes thousands of delegates from around the world approximately every 4 years to seek and agree upon new actions and principles in the stewardship of Earth. WILD12 is hosted by the Oceti Sakowin on behalf of the Sicangu Lakota Treaty Council, and will place a special emphasis on reinterpreting wilderness through Indigenous perspectives.
